Well Christmas has come and gone, and I'll have to admit, I had fun. It was semi-calm and relaxed. More-so than Thanksgiving, that's for certain.
On the 23rd, we had been invited to participate in a Christmas Light Limo Ride. It was inexpensive, and fun. We had cocoa and cider, and were driven around some of the hotspots in Portland to view the lights. It was pretty, although nothing compared to Deerfield in Texas, and the Broadmoor area in Colorado. Anyways, I got to dress up for the occasion, although Niceguy still wore jeans and a hoodie and of course the hat my Mom made for him last Christmas. I swear that thing rarely leaves his head. I wore a dress, yes a dress. I got lots of compliments. It was surprising to me. lol I never wear dresses and felt hugely over-dressed, but Niceguy said, he wanted his baby to look nice. Who am I to argue with that? *chuckle*
I cut my hair before the event. I didn't "get it cut." I cut it myself. Yes, that was a fun experience, but I don't think I did too badly. All I really did was take some length off the layers. I did NOT cut all of my hair, for fear of REALLY botching it. Layers? Yea, noone noticed. lol
We spent Christmas Eve with Niceguy's family, as his aunt and uncle had come into town for a visit. Niceguy's Mom had had a bit too much to drink, and was a hoot and a half. We had some yummy shrimp alfredo, and spent a few hours catching up. More of his family calling on Skype added to the festivities.
We knew we'd be home late, so we made sure to open our Christmas Eve gifts from my family before we left, so our comfy holiday pajamas would be ready and waiting when we returned home. Little did I know that an email had been sent out earlier in the day, to make an event of the gift opening at 5pm that night. Sorry Mom.
Niceguy loved his so much, he decided to wear them to dinner. lol =)
I decided to stay up after we'd gotten home to finish the doily/table-runner I was making for his Mom. At 3am, I gave up and decided to finish it in the morning.
Christmas morning, after my tea, and his coffee, we opened our gifts from my family. My mother made this incredibly beautiful hat that I was REALLY hoping would be included, and whatya-know, it was!!! =D It's gorgeous Mom! Thank you!!! As well, the notepad has become a fixture on my desk, and will be quite useful. I can never find a piece of paper when I need one. lol
Niceguy loved his tea and the tea set, and we both know they'll be very handy.
I had forced Niceguy to open his gifts from me, a week earlier. He got a couple new games, a new controller and charge station, plus some new pajama pants and a t-shirt. He hasn't spent any time at home doing anything other than playing one of those new games. Glad he likes it. =)
We spent the afternoon and early evening with Niceguy's family. Prime-rib dinner and my green bean casserole(always a hit). =) We got some nice camping gear and accessories that will really come in handy. A new beach-bag with matching picnic kit, an LED lantern that can be hung from the top of the tent, and some wildly interesting leatherman type tools. His parents also spoiled us with a Walmart gift card, which is primarily to be used to get things we need but are unable to afford with my still being out of work(hoping this will change soon).
His mother and aunt are planning to stop buy in a few minutes to visit for the afternoon before his aunt and uncle head home. We don't get to see them often, as it's a 8-10 hour drive for them. Niceguy and I are planning a visit sometime late next summer.
We're working on our New Year's plans at this point. Trying to decide on a night at the arcade, a drive to Eugene for the festivities, or just staying home and inviting some friends over. We'll see.
Anyways, need to get moving. Laundry calls, and company will be here soon.
I do hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and I send love and hugs to you each as you enter the new year!
Love to all!
