Tarts and Warmers

To help clarify what it is I've been doing in my spare time besides crochet, I'm including some images below. It's fun, and takes a while, so it's great to do while the laundry or dishes are running.

I've included images of some of my Tart-Warmers/Wax Burners for Mom. =)

Consider this: Your *average* 15-18 ounce candle will last you UP TO 40 hours of burn time. When you convert that same candle to 34-40 tarts, they can each last you a MINIMUM of 12 hours total burn time. That's 40 hours to 408(roughly), from the same candle.

So, to save money, and make those seasonally released candles last a bit longer, I started making tarts. I'll be working on my own fragrances soon, but for now, I'm melting down just about every candle I have. And yes, that includes my PartyLight stuff.

This the final chunk of my "Sweet Lavender" candle. This was a jar candle, that as it melted, I poured into my measuring cup, which with the spout, makes it easier to pour into the trays. This small chunk made three large tarts like what you see below.

Once it's melted, I pour the wax into candy molds. I have several shapes.

Then, I place the tray in the freezer for quick cooling and easy retrieval from the silicone tray. Depending on when I place them in the freezer, this can take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes each tray.

Then I store them. I use Ziploc freezer bags to prevent the scents from mixing, or escaping and overwhelming the apartment. I'm hoping to get some better more appropriate baggies/containers soon.

These are three of the burners that Niceguy and I have found. They all use Tea-lights. We feel the candle has a warmer feel and is cordless. =)

I typically lose roughly 1 tart worth of wax due to spillage. The jar and measuring cups are surrounded by very hot water for extended periods of time, and my fingers will typically remind me it's hot when I grab it. To avoid shattering the jar, I use practically the lowest setting our stove allows(2, on mine).

There you have it. Simple process. =)

Love your candles longer!

Ater reading through your blog again I really like the idea of what your doing. I also like the design of the green warmer and the brown one. I need to find a warmer for this house.

Awesome Idea! Reuse the candles, cheaper and you can find them anywhere!

Right on sister!

Good luck with dad! lol...

I have been to many scency parties(spelling?) And I have yet to find the want to have a burner, I make my own candles, color, smell, and shape.

Keep it up big sis! Maybe sell on ebay for a quick buck!

Maybe call it Oregon Trail Scents, By Jessica.... It has a ring to it!
