I want to do an update, but I'm not entirely sure what to write about. Writer's block, I suppose. I'll start off, and I'm sure the novel will begin like usual.
There's really not that much going on at the moment.
We're breaking even financially, finally. Yay! Things are tight, but we're finally treading water, instead of breathing through coffee stirrers. With each paycheck comes more stability, and this we are very thankful for.
Work is work. I am approaching burn-out status, so Thanksgiving's 4-day weekend, will be much needed. We had discussed going camping, but at the moment, it's just not an option financially, and with snow in the forecast we're not willing to risk it.
We were expecting it to be a cold Winter, with how mild our Summer was. Well, now we'll get to see just how cold. Seriously though? Freezing rain and ice in October, snow in November? This is weird even for Portland. With the amount of rain we've been getting this year, maybe we'll see a blizzard....
*shudder* Lets hope not.
At this point though, I think it's safe to assume camping is postponed until next Spring.
So I finally got all my stuff back from the ex-husband. It's only been 4-years since we split. It took me throwing a hissy-fit, and making threats to get him to nail down a date for Niceguy and I to make the trip up to his place. It took us less than 45 minutes to get it all put in the truck, do a quick tour of the ex's house, and then bail. He had been nice enough to go through it all already. So far, it appears he did a great job too.
I'm finding everything I was anxious to get back, and very few things that belonged to him. That's a big change from the last time he brought me some boxes. Last time, it was 4 boxes. Two full of garbage, one with 10 year old clothes(I kept the overalls, and donated the rest) and some kids toys I'd never seen before, and the fourth was all his stuff. lol, awesome. Took him 6 months to come back and get the box.
Anyways, he has a charming home and pretty new girlfriend. Very happy for him.
I do feel the need to mention, that Ex and I are HUGE Oregon Duck fans. So when he showed Niceguy and I his spare bathroom, I wasn't entirely surprised it was done up in Duck gear, but to the extent it was done up, was a tad shocking. Seriously people, the University of Oregon Book store threw up in this man's bathroom. From the shower curtain to the bathmat, to the shelving behind the toilet with deflated yellow and green footballs, pom-poms, towels, toilet cover, soap, etc..... Two walls painted yellow, and the opposite two, painted green. It's no wonder they keep the door closed at all times.
*****And here I felt awkward about wanting to hang up a picture of the BCS championship game in my hallway and maybe getting a throw-blanket for the couch. Never again people! Never again..... Wow....*****
Anyways.... So now I have a ton of boxes to sort through and toss a bunch of stuff. Since most of this stuff I haven't seen in 4-years, I will likely get rid of a lot of it. But I am grateful to have my yearbooks, some books, skates, and bike back.
Nothing has sold in my Etsy store just yet, but we haven't done too much to get the word out either. We're again discussing a website, business cards, and other stuff to get the ball rolling. I have a co-worker that purchased one of my hats prior to the Etsy store, that has a lot of other friends that are interested in the same hat. All Timbers fans. He has told me to get one up online, and he'll post the link to it in the forums. He's certain it will sell very quickly. So I spent a few extra dollars, got a different type of thick plush soft yarn to make the process faster, and have completed 7.5 hats in two weeks. Naturally, Niceguy snagged the first one.
I just need a couple of pictures, some identifying tag or something referencing the store or ME, and then I can get them up. Crossing my fingers they'll sell quickly.
If they do, I'll be buying out all the stock on that particular shade of green in the cities of Portland, Vancouver, and Salem. As well as whatever I can find online. It's limited edition. I think I have 9 skeins of it now, and I get 3.5(appx) hats out of each skein. And if I don't use it all, seriously folks, it's yellow and green. I'm a Duck fan. I'll use it all on something. lol
Had a couple other custom requests come from friends, so will be getting started on those soon as well. All in all, rather busy with hats. In comparison, it's about the same as last year. lol
Still need to figure out what I'm going to do for everyone for Christmas. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the mail-fairy brings. lol
Hopefully this year, I'll be smart enough to finish early instead of procrastinate until 3am Christmas morning again....
lol, We'll see!
I hope everyone is well!!! *hugs*
Love to all!!
